Starting a new business, worried I won't make enough money to support myself initially then worried I'm getting too busy and will be working through the Christmas holidays with no time to truly relax and spend time with family and friends. Relying on my boyfriend to pay for things for me which makes me feel guilty and unsettled. Knowing I have Christmas presents to buy with little money!

Hi Fee,

Yes, there's a multitude of things that can stress us out. Starting your own business is certainly one of them and it's a great act of courage that you should congratulate yourself for.

There are many advantages to having your own business - freedom, setting your own rules, being your own boss and the potential to make a lot of money. In the initial stages at least, relaxation and contentment aren't likely to be among the positives though!

Make sure you've got some good strategies for releasing stress everyday, make sure you get enough rest and try to accept that this is how it's going to be for a while.

It's the resistance to what's happening that creates the most stress. You are going to be really busy for a while as you get established - that's just the way it is. Try to allow it to be like that.

I'm sure your family and friends will be happy with small gifts this year - wouldn't you be if they were in your position?

Maybe having your own business will turn out to be a really great change in your life. Maybe it won't suit you and you'd be happier with a reliable weekly pay packet. Either way, it's a great experience and you will learn lots more about yourself in the process.

Be gentle with yourself Fee. I wish you all the very best for the future.
