Question:
What's the best way to overcome anxiety and panic attacks?

Answer:
I am sorry that you are suffering from panic and anxiety, I know how nightmarish this can be. The whole of my site is devoted to helping people recover - you will find lots of information here that will help.

You are suffering panic and anxiety because your nervous system is out of balance and thinks that there is an emergency happening. It will stop sending out the chemicals that create your symptoms when it realises that this isn't true. The best way of giving your nervous system the message that there isn't an emergency is by teaching your body to relax. You may think this is impossible, but even small steps in this direction will help and little by little it will become easier. Learning to let go of body tension is an important part of your recovery. Giving up those things that aggravate your condition is also important of course.

Have a good look through the site and start making some simple changes, just a little at a time, and bit by bit your nervous system will start to settle. Unfortunately there is no quick fix. It can take a while for the body's systems to return to normal - you need to give it time. It may be up and down for a while, but be reassured that the way to get better is completely logical and just keep going. I'm sure you can get there.

Help!

Tonoa, the same answer is true for you too! You will start to feel more at ease when your nervous system starts to settle - but you need to make some changes and this means looking after yourself. Have a good read through the site, especially '23 lifestyle tips for reducing anxiety'. Feeling better is inevitable if you start to make a few simple changes - but it's not likely to happen overnight, so stick with it!
